Abstract

A. Tsyb Medical Radiological Research Centre, the branch of the National Medical Research Radiological Centre, Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation is the one of the largest and oldest radiological research institutions, which is capable to translate its own research findings of basic studies into clinical practice. Existence of Experimental, Clinical and Radiation-epidemiological research sectors allows the Center to solve a wide range of radiobiological problems and provide clinical researchers with new knowledge of cancer diseases and their treatment. With account of A. Tsyb MRRC capabilities the Ministry of Health gave the Center the research tasks of the nation-wide scale. The research was carried out in the following directions: development of novel nuclear medicine technology and optimization of radiation therapy for cancer; analysis of possibilities to modify radioresistance of tumor and normal tissues based on new knowledge of mechanisms of carcinogenesis; evaluation of attributable risks from chronic exposure to low-level radiation. The article presents the review of main findings of the studies implemented in 2015-2016. The results were published in 243 articles, 16 monographs, presented in Russian and International scientific forums, and protected by 16 patents.
