Abstract

The literature covers the clinical picture of chronic radiation sickness during the period of its formation and in the coming years from its beginning. Due to the fact that the terms of contact with ionizing radiation at the time of the study reached 15-20 years, it is becoming increasingly important to study the manifestations of chronic radiation sickness in its late period and the remote consequences of radiation exposure. We carried out a comprehensive survey of a group of individuals who, 13-16 years ago, underwent a significant external overexposure. We did not find similar studies in the available literature. In the examined patients, after 13–16 years after cessation of irradiation, the processes of restoration and compensation in the blood system, nervous and cardiovascular systems are stated. This recovery is more often observed in individuals with a lower dose of external exposure. It should be noted that these favorable changes are traced in individuals with proper, rational employment and systematic outpatient, inpatient and sanatorium-resort treatment. Repeated treatment, as a rule, improved health and, in most cases, hematological and other objective data.

Key words
Chronic radiation sickness, ionizing radiation, late period, external radiation dose, restoration and compensation in the blood system, nervous system, cardiovascular system.
