Abstract

Quantitative immunohistochemical methods were used for analysis of gastric endocrine cells following whole-body γ-irradiation of white rats. Inhibition of steroidogenesis with metopirone, was found to reduce radiation damages to the cells. We suppose that this effect is associated with reduced influence of stress hormones on population of resident stem cells.
