Abstract

Monitoring of occupational radiation risks is an important element of management decision-making system, aimed at the realization of the fundamental safety principles of the IAEA. The computed system ARMIR is used in the organizations of the State Corporation Rosatom for the monitoring of occupational radiation risks. Incorporated database of the ARMIR system provides information on the annual radiation doses for more than 90% of staff covered by personal dosimetry monitoring. The average age of staff is 43 years (42 years for men, 46 years for women); the average length of service is 11.9 years; the average cumulative dose in the Russian nuclear industry is 39.3 mSv, and the average radiation dose during the year is 1.83 mSv. For the past five years the average value of the individual radiation risk in the Russian nuclear industry does not exceed 8% of the permissible limit. The percentage of the workers in the high risk group is 1.36% of the total number of the personnel registered in the ARMIR system. The most part of high risk group members are old stagers.
